Woman in the Dunes

a movie i became aware of when i was studying japanese in college, but somehow never got around to until now that i'm working on my japanese cinema blindspot. the reason i waited so long is probably because i thought this was going to be abstracter, and not just the straight-up psychological/existential horror that it is. what can i say i prefer simple, high concept stuff. in fact i've just started writing the sequel in which they finally start digging down, called: woman in the dunes ii: telepathic ant gods are our overlords. a title that also serves as a pitch, that's how you hollywood, read more
