whoa i can't believe they got mark from peep show to play andy. anyway, shockingly... good? like, top tier chucky even. you can tell it's a dtv deal, but barely because the effects are pretty fuckin' wild and i don't mean just the gore. chucky himself looks kinda weird these days with his big anime eyes, but the way they animate him is eerie & janky so top marks for that. but the true star of this movie, and the future of this franchise if you ask me, is fiona dourif. nica rules and she's really starting to resemble her dad more and more. i remember not liking curse of chucky and its read more

This picks up just after the end credits of curse of chucky, Alex Vincent is back in his 30s playing as Andy once again. There is now multiple chucky dolls and people are dying again but how is this possible when andy has a severed head of chucky from the previous movie? This new concept was an interesting one and totally unexpected. Gory kills, multiple chuckys, interesting story whats not to love with now the 7th instalment of chucky. while not a four star affair, cult of chucky is awash in style and gore, and perhaps the most creative plot this series has ever cooked up with a straight face. i love this one, i really do. despite being tonally uneven, and with a plot that double-backs on itself one too many times even after we 'get it', there's an infectious fun to cult of chucky that is undeniable. if curse was emulating the original, cult is following that pattern by going a bit crazier like 2. the story actually took a turn i did not expect, which is wild that this franchise still has any tricks left up its sleeve after... read more
