so i couldn't be more excited to watch batman again. i loved this movie when i was younger. i fucking loved it and it's been way to long and i have wanted to see it again for years upon years. i remember seeing it in the theatre and many times on tv over the next few years. now maybe i'm just older and jaded or maybe in this modern world of 2015 where superhero movies are a dime a dozen or maybe it's because christopher nolan's batman movies were so good but this film sadly feels a little dated, a little slow, a little not as good as i once thought. not that it's a bad movie, not at all. read

the only way i can dismiss any qualms i have about this (and believe me, there's a lot) is as a children's movie. kids don't care about silly things like direction & writing, all they need is sensorial stimulation. but then there's the fact this is 2 hours long jfc someone lock this man up. needless to say i loved these growing up, so out of respect for 8-year old me i won't completely demolish it with my rating. read

saw this on the big screen finally, and it was an experience™. as a wee lad my first exposure to batman on film was batman: the movie. my second was batman & robin. which, seemed to me like a natural progression from the biff! pow! bang! of the 60's caped crusader jaunt. then i saw batman forever, and it felt like the tipping point into something darker. in fact, as a kid- i wasn't fond of forever because of how dark and weird it felt in contrast to the other two i knew. nevertheless, my dad would tell me about this one, all the time. he might not have known it but he built up the movie to... read

This movie was... Something.
There was a lot that I absolutely loved about this movie. The acting was great. Jack Nicholson KILLED it as the Joker. The makeup was astonishing. Absolutely fascinating and jaw dropping. Then the set design was chef kiss too. Oh and the Batmobile is the best Batmobile we've ever had, PERIOD.
But I can't talk about this movie without talking about Batman trying to look up. Tell me that wasn't funny. Tell me that didn't take you straight out of the movie. And then the fight scenes were a bit naff, which I get, because this is 1989. But still, that final fight read

This movie blew me away in 1989, I never cared for Batman before that. After watching it in the theater I wore out the VHS tape. Nicholson steals the show and still makes me laugh. Best superhero of the 80's. Unfortunately, I gotta give The Dark Knight credit as the best but sentimentally this movie is #2.
Too many viewings to count, this was on the Blu Ray. read

This film will always have a special place in my heart. The first piece of fiction that really introduced me to the character so I've always had a soft spot for this iteration of the world of Batman. And it's still good. Albeit, not as good as I remember, I'll admit, sadly. But I still find it iconic and the definitive version of Gotham.
Burton's use of the architectural structures, inspired by german expressionism, as the look of Gotham is brilliant and also paved the way to the visual style of the city in B:TAS.
Visually speaking, it's perfect. It's the story that I didn't found to be read
