Super-Powered Sequel that Sticks to What Works: Family-Friendly, Action-Packed Fun

So as I’ve said before, I really love The Incredibles, and thus was pretty nervous about watching its sequel. But I have to say, Pixar actually did a pretty decent job with Incredibles 2 . . . nothing groundbreaking, but they stuck to what worked with the first movie and made it work again. It honestly feels almost more like a continuation of the first movie than like a sequel proper, considering that it literally starts at the exact point in time that the first movie ends. Yes, you’ve got a new plot–or at least a new bad guy–but the continued focus on the family dynamic is strong here.... read more

A PIXAR sequel where didn't have anything to move forward the characters. - For instance, why are Parr's family arguing who should take Jack-Jack when the finale of 1st film they wear masks at the same time clearly shows they come to terms w/ their superhero career & who they should be. The sequel reverted so as to have unnecessary drama. read more

I tremendously admire the amazing quality of the writing and the direction. The film has no shortage of interesting nuances, great scenes depicting family issues which are both tender and funny, as well as fantastic throwbacks to the first film. All brought with fantastic style. But... By using Baudrillard's critique on hyperreality and the passiveness of mass audiences as a plot device for a certain arc (which I'm not going to spoil), the philosophy in question is immediately presented as something radical or as a non-issue. film school drop outs week 46 - studio - pixar animation studios watched this at the odeon. "make supers legal again" i missed the first few minutes because the odeon had the lights still on during the bao short and the beginning of the movie, so the "lazy" american had to get the theatre's attention to turn off the fucking lights while the brits were chowing on sugary popcorn. not bitter lol. this movie felt pretty weird to me, but i still liked it due to all the jack-jack segments (he's adorable and that raccoon fight was the shit). read more

the long awaited sequel is finally here, and i can say it was definitely worth the wait. picking up exactly where the last movie left off, the incredibles 2 feels exactly like the original, hitting the nostalgia strings in people who saw the original when it came out, and appealing to a new audience after all of this time. the incredibles was always about superheroes, but it also dealt with modern family and work issues, along with or "normal life" problems. this continues and is also done just as well, with elastigirl taking on the superhero role while mr. incredible deals with being a read more

There were a lot things wrong with that movie but what annoyed me the most is the fact that they made ultra rich guy a good guy. It's literally impossible to be ultra rich without exploiting your workers so he is just evil delusional dude with superhero obsession. I watched this right after watching the first one and I think Incredibles 2 doesn't work as a sequel, it doesn't feel like an organic continuation of the story. Right from the first 20 minutes it contradicts the first film, after fighting Syndrome Dicker thanks them for their services and tells them it's appreciated and they don't get into any trouble whatsoever, but in this movie after the fight with Underminer which supposedly happens shortly after their fight with Syndrome they are grilled and detained and their whole organization is shut down, why is it so different now?
