nimrod antal's metallica: through the never is essentially a concert-length music video. it consists of live performances of the band from a series of canadian shows in 2012, intercut with a narrative about a roadie played by dane dehaan being sent to retrieve a mysterious item needed for the show and encountering a post-apocalyptic riot. it's as weird as it sounds. the concert portions of the film are well-shot and feature the band's live presence incredibly well. they're a fantastic thrash metal band and the cameras get some really great shots. unfortunately the narrative tied in largely... read more
