Ooo tell em I be so fucking bored and irritated when yall make me look at black on black violence especially for such long periods of time. Shut up. Its a shame in out climate this movie couldve only gone two ways. We got the slightly better option. I have been super excited for this since it was announced trying to avoid all info about it . It really makes me feel like its trying to say its our fault we are marginalized. There is some small parts where it says otherwise but mostly…. My quick rating - 5;3/10. I really don't think a movie title has been so spot on as for a description of a movie. "The Angry Black Girl And Her Monster" presents a unique premise that captures the attention right from the start. With a title that aptly describes the film's essence; it promises an engaging story of a brilliant teenager; Vicaria; played wonderfully by Laya DeLeon Hayes; who becomes determined to resurrect her murdered brother; fueled by her belief that death can be cured. This brilliantly titled movie is a new twist upon Mary Shelley's classic Frankenstein whereby a highly intelligent teenage girl living in a poor black neighbourhood surrounded by drug dealers and broken law enforcement is convinced that she is able to 'cure death'. Already having lost her mother, her brother is is then slain, however she successfully brings him back to life.
