lesbianism, and by extension, women as lesser. a man gets visibly excited when a presumed lesbian talks of boys -- a return to one's primal state means partaking in carnivorism (a much common theme in horror) and reverting to heterosexuality (unique but vile). the connotation is downright revolting as the film repeatedly contrasts the uneventful domesticity of a lesbian couple and the exciting promise of a dark and mysterious older man of power, painting lesbians as those who would rather settle for comfort out of fear. a last-minute edgy twist (hint: oldboy) does not necessarily change this... read more

My quick rating - 4;5/10. This made Metacritic's top ten horror flix of 2021. I will just give a heads up that I rarely agree with that site but since I hadn't seen it; may as well check for myself. And I definitely wouldn't be placing this on my top ten. This is a somewhat interesting werewolf flick that is unfortunately so incredibly slow-paced which coupled with no impactful finish is a terrible mix. It has been a while since I watched a werewolf movie, and Bloodthirsty is to an extent able to abate my desire to see more of what was always my favourite horror villain growing up. Bloodthirsty is however, less of as creature feature, and more of a character study and it involves a indie singer called Grey (Lauren Beatty) who along with her lover Charlie (Katharine King So) visit successful music producer Vaughn Daniels to work on her next album.
