this was the first short film from jason reitman, who used to be a darling of critics until he dared to follow up the ghostbusters requel, which somehow critics thought was some kind of culture war hill to die on. anyway, it's not a bad start, and can be watched for free here: https://youtu.be/ab8gob9iyxm i'd love to say that there are signs that this guy would go on to make juno, up in the air, thank you for smoking, and other critically-lauded features. but no, it's not that mature or clever. there's a simple concept reminiscent of defending your life, but perhaps executed better and more... read more
